The County Connection
December 4, 2014
Dear Del Amigo Community,
We have had a blow to our teaching staff. Lisa Rainbolt is currently out on leave for an unknown amount of time. This has been very difficult on our staff and students and we are looking for a long term substitute to help with continuity. Students in the 9/10 grade classes just started reading “Lord of the Flies” and the 11/12 grade classes are reading “The Things They Carried”. Our Resource teacher (who was a former English teacher) has been putting together lesson plans for the substitutes to follow.
While we have access to Mrs. Rainbolt’s grade book, we need to continue to enter grades. Students will have, depending on work and behavior, the opportunity to earn (daily) one of three letter grades. Grades will then be compiled and credit will be assigned accordingly for the quarter grades. A letter grade will be assigned by the substitute on a daily basis and kept in a grade book.
A = Vast Majority of student’s time is spent being productive i.e.: on task, on time, polite and all work completed (4.5 credits)
C = Much of the student’s time is spent being productive i.e.: on task, on time, polite and most of the work completed (2.5 credits)
P = Student spends majority of time off task, work is incomplete or missing, tardy, disrespectful, non-compliant (.5 credits)
We are truly sorry about the disruption to your student’s education and hope to find a long term substitute quickly. In the meantime, we look forward to Mrs. Rainbolt’s return.
Thank you for your help and support.
PS - I will be going to all English classes on Monday to explain this to all of our English Students.
Just a couple of quick reminders regarding the month of December:
Thank you for your student and your support.

1st Quarter Highlights
Dear Del Amigo community,
It’s hard to believe that the first two months of school have come and gone. We have completed our first quarter and are now moving into the second quarter. October was a very busy month of learning for Del Amigo – even Halloween was a Staff Development Day…learning never ceases, even for the adults!
Three small but noticeable highlights from October that demonstrate the caliber and character of our Del Amigo students:
These small examples demonstrate the unique and special character of our students. Although they may have struggled at their prior educational setting, what we have seen is that these young men and women blossom into Men and Women of Character. We are very proud of our students and what they have accomplished in their short time with us.
Our first graduate of the year, Zach Orcutt finished up his high school career this past quarter and is heading into the Army for additional training and education. We wish him the best of luck! Besides Zach, we had an additional 35 students on the honor roll for either earning more than 17 credits or achieving a 3.5 GPA or higher (we had 4 students with a 4.0 GPA)!
Moving forward into the month of November, we are looking forward to the many learning opportunities as well as the activities that we will be engaging in. We will be enrolling 12 new students at the quarter and welcome the energy they will bring to our campus.
Our students, as they have done in the past, will be holding a Thanksgiving celebration. This celebration is a collaborative effort of all students and time for us to remember how thankful we are for what we have been given. As we enter into this holiday season, Del amigo is truly appreciative for all the support that our community has given us.
